Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has built a legacy of service and change that have permeated African American culture since 1908. The Rho Psi Omega Chapter, established in 1989, works to fulfill the organization’s mission through creative program initiatives, community engagement, and community partnership.
Our new program initiatives developed by our 29th International President, Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson, include five (5) targets that address challenges facing our global communities. They are educational enrichment, health promotion, family strengthening, environmental ownership and global impact. [Click here to learn more.] Rho Psi Omega is excited to integrate these program targets into new or enhanced service opportunities.
You can expect to see increased focus, active engagement, and collaboration with local organizations and partners to carry out many of our new initiatives. In addition to supporting Second Harvest Food Bank, we will narrow our focus toward childhood hunger in our local communities; increase our engagement with area youth; broadening our health focus to include stroke prevention, Alzheimer awareness along with our continued support of issues related to our efforts to fight cancer, heart disease, asthma, and diabetes.
Each member of the Rho Psi Omega Chapter shares a commitment to being of service to all mankind. We dedicate our time, talent, and resources to tackle problems concerning girls and women. While we are proud of the work we do in the community, we recognize that these remain challenging times for many families. Therefore, we remain committed to the ideals and purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and look forward to doing our part to improve the lives of our neighbors.
